Dr. Meagan Peek
I grew up in Glasgow, KY. I've been interested in medicine since middle school and my passion grew from there. My love for pediatrics began while I was in high school teaching piano lessons to elementary school children. I attended college and then medical school at the University of Louisville, where I ended up meeting my husband. I completed my pediatric residency at Norton Children’s Hospital, and my pediatric cardiology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. I was an outpatient and fetal pediatric cardiologist at Akron Children’s Hospital and then Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
The driving force for my choice to leave Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and start Little Hearts Pediatrics was experiencing the healthcare system as a mom and patient. I frequently felt like my child’s doctors didn’t have enough time to address all of my concerns and questions (my children have fantastic doctors). I found myself googling questions I had instead of having access to our specialists (and I’m a doctor). As a physician, I also received a lot of pushback every time I needed time off work to attend a doctor’s appointment with my children. All of these things made me decide there had to be a better way - a way for me to be a better physician and mom to 2 medically complex children.
One of my favorite things about pediatrics is the ability to follow patients throughout their lives and develop relationships with the children and families over time. I have at least two patients in every visit — the child and the parent. I strive to provide excellent care for the patient while addressing the parents’ concerns and fears.
When I’m not working, I’m spending time with my husband, 2 young children, and French bulldog. I enjoy playing the piano and participating in vocal and handbell choirs at my church.
